Trump Wins Electoral Victory by Wide Margin; Clinton Wins Popular Vote by One Percent

Donald Trump is reported to have 274 electoral votes, putting him over the 270 needed to take the electoral win. Hillary Clinton is reported to have garnered 218 e;ectoral votes, leaving her 52 electoral votes short of a victory.  Clinton is reported to have won the popular vote with 59,325,126 votes, as compared to 59,157,483 for Trump.

No less important are the elections for the Senate. Democrats now have secured 47 seats as compared to 48 seats for the Republicans, with 51 needed to secure control. In the House of Representatives, Republicans have secured a solid lead with 211 seats, as compared to 162 seats for the Democrats. 226 seats are needed to control the House.

Of the three third party options, Jill Stein of the Green party has 1,199,056 votes, independent candidate Evan McMullin has 418,373 votes, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson has 4,021,218 votes.
