The focus of Palestinian terror shifted to Hebron on Saturday after weeks of violence centering around Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.

An IDF Border policewoman was attacked by a Palestinian woman with a knife and wounded lightly in the hand. The attack occurred near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron on Saturday morning around 11:30 am. The soldier shot and killed the terrorist, who was identified as 16-year-old Biyan Assila.

The soldier, a corporal in the IDF, was stationed at the entrance to the Border Police base in Kiryat Arba and described the attack to Ynet.

“The terrorist came to the guarding post and asked me to direct her to a certain street in the area. I told her I did not recognize the name and that she should ask the locals how to get there. All of a sudden she drew out a knife and tried to stab me in the neck. I took a step back and shot the terrorist without hesitating,” she said.

Also on Saturday morning, an Israeli civilian shot a Palestinian terrorist trying to stab him on Al-Shuhada Street near Beit Hadassah in Kiryat Arba.  The terrorist, identified as 18-year-old Fadel Qawasmeh, died from his wounds. Arabs rioted at the scene after the incident but were soon dispersed with crowd-control measures.

In Jerusalem on Saturday morning, an Israeli riding his bicycle through the Armon Hantziv neighborhood noticed a Palestinian youth carrying a bag in what he considered a suspicious manner. He notified a nearby group of Border Guard policemen, who approached the youth and asked to check his identification.

In the course of the document check, the Palestinian drew a large knife and attempted to attack the soldiers, who shot and killed him. On soldier was injured lightly in his hand. The attacker was identified as Muataz Ahmad Awisat, 16, from Jabel Mukaber in East Jerusalem.

On Saturday night, an Israeli bus was attacked with a firebomb between the towns of Avnei Hefetz and Einav in Samaria. The driver suffered moderate wounds. Fortunately the bus was empty of passengers at the time and no one else was injured. The driver was returning from a trip, in which he transported group of Arab students to Nablus (Shechem).

The recent wave of violence is taking on the appearance of a holy war as it seems to target religious Jews and is centered around sites that are considered holy to Judaism, such as the Temple Mount and the Cave of the Patriarchs. On Thursday night, a mob of Palestinians burned down Joseph’s  Tomb near Nablus (Shechem).

The Palestinian Authority has advanced a proposal to to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in which they will claim control over these Jewish holy sites, including the Western Wall.
