A massive blast was reported at an Iranian oil pipeline in the southern region, according to local media.
Reuters reports, sourcing the semi-government-run Tasnim news outlet, the explosion took place due to the outdated and obsolete infrastructure surrounding the pipeline.
Tasnim reported that the blast “created small tremors” which were felt in the surrounding area.
This isn’t the first catastrophe to hit the Islamic Republic’s oil infrastructure. In June, a major fire was ignited at the oil refinery providing energy for Tehran. The fire sent dense plumes of black smoke over the country’s capital. Last year, several mysterious explosions and blasts were reported at Iranian oil pipelines.
Some of the explosions hit sensitive sites throughout Iranian, leading to accusations that they could be a type of sabotage campaign undertaken by Israel or another enemy of Iran.
