A man in his 50’s attempted to stop the terrorist from fleeing the scene of the attack and was injured in the struggle.

The young man who was stabbed has been identified on Twitter as being a soldier, but those reports remain unconfirmed.

Nachum Borenstein was the first paramedic on the scene. He told reporters: “When I first arrived on scene I saw the victim who had been stabbed and was lying unconscious. I began to treat him together with other paramedics who joined me on site. He was evacuated to hospital during continual attempts to resuscitate him, and was in critical condition.”
