During an audience with the Jordanian monarch attended by Muslim and Christian leaders from Jerusalem, P.A. head Mahmoud Abbas vowed to continue the “resistance against the occupation.”
At an event honoring Likud activist Jacques Kupfer, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich denied the existence of a Palestinian people, and displayed a map of “Greater Israel” including Jordan.
Following a security summit with the Palestinians, Amman and Washington claimed that Israel had committed to halt building in Judea and Samaria.
The two sides also agreed to preserve the Temple Mount’s status quo.
The meeting comes amid an ongoing Israeli counter-terrorism offensive in Judea and Samaria prompted by a wave of attacks.
It is very doubtful the Biden administration can prevent a major outbreak of violence in eastern Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria ahead of Ramadan.
The statement comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Jordan’s king he would uphold the status quo in Jerusalem.
King Abdullah wants to save his own skin when he should be promoting peace.
