As through a wide breach they come; in the midst of the ruin they roll themselves upon me. Terrors are turned upon me, they chase mine honor as the wind; and my welfare is passed away as a cloud. (Job 30:14-15)

Two Palestinians in a speeding truck penetrated the first security barrier at Ben Gurion International Airport late Monday night, prompting security authorities to declare an emergency situation, including the halting of all inbound and outbound flights, according to The Times of Israel. The airport was shut down for over an hour and a half.

The suspects, who are reportedly from Jenin and Kalkilya in the Judea and Samaria, were finally deterred after security guards fired off a number of shots in their direction. According to the Jerusalem Post, after the truck’s tires came under fire the two men fled on foot. Airport security apprehended them shortly afterwards.

A police sapper was called to the scene however no explosives or any other suspicious cargo was discovered, the Times reported.

During an interrogation, the men claimed that they were car thieves, and that they had just stolen the truck in the nearby town of Beit Dagan. They said that they entered the airport road by accident and panicked when they saw the Israeli security personnel.

According to the JPost, despite the resumption of flights after approximately an hour-and-a-half, some delays were expected Tuesday morning.
