Israel’s day of commemoration for the Jews who perished in the Holocaust is called Yom Hazikaron laShoah ve-laG’vurah (‘Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day’), known colloquially in Israel and abroad as Yom HaShoah and in English as Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Holocaust Day, and it is a national memorial day. In Israel on that day, there is a siren that commemorates Jews who perished, and the heroism of survivors and rescuers.
