Israel is not just some blip on the map anymore. Some of the biggest names in music are making their way to one of the largest cultural epicenters of the Middle East. Artists like Justin Timberlake, The Rolling Stones, and Beyonce will be performing in Tel Aviv for the first time. Music royalty will rock out on the stages of Israel, drawing crowds in the thousands from all across the land. Here are a few artists set to play in Israel in the summer of 2014.

Justin Timberlake

Israel is abuzz with the news that JT is going to be performing in Israel for the first time in Tel Aviv. Timberlake will perform on May 29, 2014 and perform songs off of his new album, “20/20 experience.” JT took home three trophies last week at the People’s Choice Awards for favorite album, favorite male artist, and favorite R&B artist.

Beyoncé

The queen herself is coming to Israel – finally! Beyoncé will perform for the first time in Tel Aviv in the summer of 2014. Recently, Beyoncé released a surprise self titled album, her fourth. Beyoncé’s concert is one of the most highly anticipated of the year. Her show is expected to draw a crowd of 50,000 people.

Lady Gaga

Monsters in Israel are amping up to welcome the lady herself. Lady Gaga will return to Israel in May 2014 and perform in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park. Her last performance was in 2009. Get ready for the streets of Tel Aviv to be lined with little Monsters (aka Lady Gaga’s followers) strutting their stuff in some fantasmical costumes. Lady Gaga, best known for her flamboyant and outlandish style, will be a show not to miss.

Miley Cyrus

Visiting Israel for the first time, the pop star is set to perform a one-time concert in Tel Aviv in June 2014. Cyrus has been in the news lately for her “twerking” incident during her MTV Video Music Award performance in 2013. The controversial pop star will perform for a crowd of 15,000-20,000.

The Rolling Stones

The legendary British rock band is reportedly negotiating a concert in Tel Aviv in June 2014. This would be the first time the Rolling Stones would play in Israel. Offered a whopping $4.5 million to play in the Holy Land, the sum would be the largest amount ever offered to an artist to play in Israel. The Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012 and have released 30 albums since forming in London in 1962.

TourIsrael-Resolution-600WIDEPixies

Legendary American rock band the Pixies are coming to Israel. The group will perform at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv on June 17, 2014 as part of an international music festival. The Pixies, an alternative rock band, were very popular among Israelis in the 1990s. The group was supposed to perform in Israel in 2010 but were pressured to cancel their performance by Anti-Israel boycott groups.

Soundgarden

Broken up in 1997 and reunited in 2010, one of the world’s most well known alternative rock bands is set to perform in Israel on June 18, 2014 at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. The group will be performing at the same international music festival as the Pixies. This will be the first time the group has ever played in Israel.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse

Rock icon Neil Young will perform in Tel Aviv’s Park Hayarkon on July 17th. The last time the rocker was in Israel was in August 1995 as part of the Mirror Ball tour with Pearl Jam. The 69 year old will play with the band Crazy Horse, the rock and roll band he has been performing with for the last 45 years. Young and Crazy Horse set out on a world tour in 2013 but had to cancel several concerts when guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro broke his hand. The band resumes performances in September. Sampedro told Rolling Stone last year that his was probably the groups last tour: “I hate saying their ages, but I’m 64 and I’m the baby of the band. I love playing and we’re playing as good as we ever did, but at any time, something could go down with any one of us.”
