Three of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome battery deployed near the city. One rocket landed in an open field. No damage or casualties have been reported, but four people were treated at Yoseftal Hospital for panic attack symptoms.
IDF forces are combing the area to see if any other rockets fell in Israeli territory.
According to early Thursday reports, ISIS claimed responsibility for the rockets. There are several Salafist Jihadi groups active in Sinai, some with links to the Islamic State. Egypt has been waging a counterinsurgency campaign against them for over a year, with mixed results.
