In a large-scale operation during the night, the Israel Police in cooperation with the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) raided seven homes in East Jerusalem of families of terrorists who received money, support and funding from the terror organization Hamas. A total of 14 arrests were made as part of these raids.

The raided homes are located in the villages and neighborhoods of Jabel Mukaber, Ras al-Amud, At-Tur and the Shuafat refugee camp.

Those included the house of the family of Abu Jamil Jasan Ben Mohammed, who took part in the shooting and stabbing attack at a Har Nof synagogue in November 2014 and the house of the family of Ramadan and Fahmi Mashara serving sentences in jail for abetting the attack in Gilo, killing 19 Israelis in 2002.

Notably, one of the houses raided was one home to the family of Hassan Nabi, one of the terrorists responsible for the 1994 kidnapping and murder of IDF soldier Nachshon Wachsman.

The security forces seized cash, Israeli and foreign currencies, altogether amounting to NIS 200,000, checks, two vehicles, a truck and jewelry. All the money was seized according to civil and criminal forfeitures and the suspects brought in for investigation.

The operation is a result of covert operations and targeted intelligence gathering of the police and the ISA indicating families of terrorists living in the villages and neighborhoods in East Jerusalem receive constant funding and financing from Hamas organization to support committing terrorist attacks.

“The Israel Police will not allow Hamas to support financially, or otherwise, the families of terrorists who committed murderous terrorist attacks. […] The long arm of the police will come to anyone who funds terrorism, expressed support and encouragement of terrorist activities, the property shall be confiscated and they will be prosecuted.”
