Though the online language academy eTeacher has been actively educating students since 2000, it recently rebranded a branch of their company in recognition of the increase in interest in traditional Bible studies.

“eTeacher holds nearly 105,000 virtual classes a year throughout the world,” noted Roni Segal, academic adviser for eTeacher to Breaking Israel News. “With more and more students requesting traditional Bible studies and a desire to study the Old Testament in its original Hebrew, we felt that the time was ripe to branch out and open ‘The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies.’”

The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies helps students understand Hebrew text by offering courses in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Korean. Their Bible studies courses teach the true meaning and hidden secrets behind the Biblical text. For example, questions such as, “Why did the ancient Hebrews wander the desert for 40 years and not 40 weeks or 40 days?” are explored.

The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies also offers certification programs to students who have a deep desire to become experts in the ancient languages of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic as well as in Bible studies. The institute works hand-in-hand with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, voted one of the top 100 universities in the world. Therefore, student credits may be obtained for these courses.

It is interesting to note that churches worldwide have found a general decline in those who attend services. Yet, a recent study published in the international journal “Review of Religious Research” found that 71 percent of clergy from growing churches read the Bible daily, and 46 percent of worshipers attending growing churches read the Bible at least once a week.

These findings boost The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies’ desire to promote the true and accurate understandings of the Bible and Biblical Hebrew. “Our online classes are taught by well educated teachers who strive to ensure that every student masters the material he or she desires to learn,” continued Segal to Breaking Israel News. “We use the most advanced multimedia systems which are the easiest to use in order to provide unique and rich educational content including graphics, pictures, recordings, videos and more to make the Bible come to life.”

The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies presently offers 17 courses. Each course meets weekly and there is homework and practice lessons. Though the classes are virtual, students are encouraged to be active learners who gain both academic and life skills.

“We are consistently receiving more requests from Jews and Christians alike who are eager to deepen their understanding of the Bible,” Segal said. “We are truly blessed to work with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in this endeavor as they are one of the leading Biblical research institutes in the world.”

Segal explained to Breaking Israel News that their students tend to be very passionate about the Holy Scriptures and are interested in understanding the deeper meaning behind the Bible’s texts, land, people, language, and culture. “What can be more exciting than learning to interpret Biblical texts while speaking with a teacher sitting in the Holy Land where the stories took place?”
