In the aftermath of Sunday’s shooting attack, security forces arrested 31 Palestinians Monday suspected of participating in riots throughout Judea and Samaria and in Jerusalem’s Arab neighborhoods. Several riots took place during military operations in the early morning hours of Monday, injuring a soldier.

Police and Border Police forces conducted an overnight operation in the Arab neighborhoods of Issawiya, A-Tur and Wadi-Joz. Jerusalem Police said the forces arrested 15 people suspected of participating in riots that included throwing rocks and firebombs at Israeli civilians and security forces.

Police described the operation as a direct continuation of measures taken year-round against rioters. However, they also said that the current move was part of routine operational preparedness for the Jewish holiday season, a period often characterized by increased tension, mainly in and around the Old City.

In addition, IDF forces mapped the home of the terrorist who committed the Jerusalem shooting attack that killed 29-year-old Yoseph Kirma and 60-year-old Levana Malihi, in preparation for its demolition. Rioters in the village, located in Judea and Samaria, hurled a pipe bomb at the force. One soldier was lightly wounded from shrapnel and was taken to hospital to receive treatment.

In Judea and Samaria, security forces arrested 16 Palestinians, either for rioting or for membership of the Hamas terror organization. In Nablus riots broke out overnight when some 1,200 Jewish worshipers arrived in 24 buses to pray at Joseph’s Tomb, on the outskirts of the city. The visit was coordinated with relevant authorities and was secured by army, police and Civil Administration forces. The troops dispersed the rioters, who caused no casualties or property damage, and the prayers were held as planned.

Army and police forces also conducted operations to discover and seize weapons in Judea and Samaria. A weapon-making facility was discovered and shut down in the village of Azzun, and homemade weapons were also found in the village of Surif in Gush Etzion.
