[BLOG] O Persia, How Art Thou Fallen ?

Let’s begin by introducing the historical setting.

After the destruction of the First Holy Temple, many Jews were taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon. A few of the more famous ones were also Biblical characters, such as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Ezekiel. The prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah had prophesied many years earlier that such a thing would happen.

In Chapter 5 of the Book of Daniel, the then-King of Babylon, Belshazzar, was killed by the Medo-Persian Empire. After he fell, Darius the Median began his rule over Babylon. During Darius’s rule, Cyrus, King of Persia, liberated all the Jews of Babylon and encouraged them to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Holy Temple. King Cyrus also commanded his people to help the Jews by providing them with silver, gold, goods, beasts, and all other kinds of freewill offerings for the Temple.

Not too long after, King Ahasuerus gave full freedom to Mordechai and Queen Esther to empower the Jews scattered throughout the 127 provinces of the Medo-Persian Empire (from Ethiopia to India) to defend themselves in the face of the arch enemy of the Jews, Haman’s, wicked plan to eradicate Persian Jewry.

This was Persia in biblical times.

Since then, what has happened to Persia (today’s Iran)? What has changed?

It is Islam.

The once compassionate Persia has now become a bloodthirsty Iran.

Iran has sworn to wipe out Israel from the map of the world. About this they are very vocal.

Recently, Iran announced compensation packages for the families of those Palestinian terrorists who were shot to death after carrying out terrorist attacks against Israelis in the current terror wave. Not too long ago, the country test-fired several ballistic missiles and one had written on it “Must destroy Israel” in Hebrew.

There is a saying in the eastern part of the world: a pigeon is not safe when it closes its eyes on an assaulting cat. The pigeon just ‘feels’ for a few moments that it is safe and then it is no more.

So many of the western leaders have closed their eyes to this growing evil. The Islamists say that they are waging a Jihad. When they attack the innocent, those in the comfort of their offices declare that these Jihadists do not really represent the true Islam.

Where does “true Islam” even come from? From their holy book, the Quran.

The following are a few sentences from the Quran taken from the Internet:

“Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts of a believing people.” (Sahih International 9:14)

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture – [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.” (Sahih International 9:29)

The Jews say, ‘Ezra is the son of Allah’; and the Christians say, ‘The Messiah is the son of Allah.’ That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?” (Sahih International 9:30)

So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds.” (Sahih International 47:4)

Even an uneducated person can ‘hear’ through these sentences that Islam is indeed not a religion of peace . The word peace comes nowhere near it.

When we look at the prophecy for Ismael when he was born, as quoted in the Bible :

And the angel of the LORD said unto her: ‘Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Ishmael, because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he shall be a wild ass of a man: his hand shall be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the face of all his brethren.” (Genesis 16:11-12).

Additionally, the word ‘wild’ is ‘Pere’ in Hebrew and we see this word again in Jeremiah 2:24 for wild donkey.

Those who follow Islam, as seen in these verses, behave like these wild donkeys: violent and unpredictable.

Israel has to hope and wait in patience till the Messiah returns and saves her from her enemies.

That day is soon coming and is just around the corner.
