A total of seven soldiers were injured in two separate attacks on Friday, as Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon ponders a solution to allow both sides to”live their lives”.

At least five IDF soldiers, including two officers, were injured on Friday around 12:30 when a Palestinian terrorist rammed his car into the group of soldiers. The soldiers were stationed at Beit Ummar Junction on Route 60 between Gush Etzion Junction and Hebron, in order to prevent riots at the funeral of a terrorist who was being buried nearby. Other soldiers on the scene opened fire, killing the terrorist, who was identified as Omar ah- Zaakik, 19 years old from Beit Ummar. Rioting broke out after the incident, as Arabs attacked the soldiers with stones and firebombs.

Earlier on Friday, at around 7:30 am, a Palestinian terrorist attempted to run over soldiers waiting at a bus stop near the city of Maale Adumin. After hitting the concrete barriers protecting the bus stop, the driver got out of the car and ran at the soldiers, brandishing a knife. The terrorist was shot and killed by a civilian at the scene. Two soldiers were lightly injured. The attacker was identified as Fadi Hassib, 30, from al-Bireh near Ramallah.

Thursday night, a 65 year old Israeli man was burned on the neck when a molotov cocktail hit his car. He was travelling on route 443, linking Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.

On Thursday, a terrorist armed with a knife attacked an Israeli soldier at Tapuah Junction in Samaria. The terrorist was shot and killed.

On Wednesday, an Israeli soldier was seriously injured when a Palestinian terrorist stabbed him at a checkpoint south of Hebron. The terrorist was shot and killed.

On Monday night, an 18 year old Israeli soldier was murdered in a stabbing attack by a Palestinian at a gas station on Route 443. Two others were injured.

On Wednesday, Israel Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon spoke at the Israel Democracy Institute, and addressed calls for tougher measures to fight the wave of violence.

“We need to know how to allow the Arab civilians in Judea and Samaria to live their lives and at the same time do the same thing for Israeli civilians, wherever they are in Judea and Samaria or Tel Aviv and everywhere else. We need to know how to fight in accordance with our needs, to use force when there is no other choice, and most important, not to surrender, and most importantly to protect our values and remain human.”

At an industrial conference in Eilat on Friday,Ya’alon continued to ponder the situation.

“We have a wave of terror that will accompany us in the coming days and apparently in the coming weeks, and we don’t know if it will end soon or when. Therefore, we need to prepare ourselves for any possible development.”

22 Israelis have been killed in the last three months and 203 have been wounded. 87 Palestinians have been killed, including armed terrorists.
