Christians from around the world gathered in Jerusalem on Sunday, October 6, 2013, to celebrate Jerusalem and to pray for true peace to come to this city and all of Israel.

The event in Jerusalem was televised live globally by God TV as a part of the larger, global Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which took place in churches and congregations around the world. God TV is the largest Christian television network in the world with millions of viewers.

The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ) was started during the Second Intifada in 2002 by Evangelical Christian leaders with Dr. Jack W. Hayford and Dr. Robert Stearns serving as co-chairmen. The International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem is the largest Jerusalem-focused prayer initiative in the world, with tens of millions of people from over 300,000 churches and 175 nations participating annually.

The ceremony in Jerusalem featured music and comments from special guests such as Chief Rabbi of Efrat and founder of the Jewish-Christian Center for Understanding and Cooperation, Shlomo Riskin, a children’s choir, and others. The DPPJ event was highlighted by musical prayers for Jerusalem, and comments from religious and civic leaders.

“We are gathering together in Jerusalem to declare that no matter what may be happening in the countries around Israel, Christians will continue to pray for G-d’s peace to come to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. We are here to remind the people of this Land that you are not alone, we are with you, and G-d is with you,” said Robert Stearns, Executive Director of Eagles’ Wings, and founder of the global prayer day.
