Palestinian Red Crescent Ambulance Flees Scene of Terror Attack Against Israelis

Despite an international mandate to help injured regardless of circumstance, it has been reported that a Palestinian ambulance crew ignored Israeli victims of a terror attack, in which a father and son were killed.

In a gruesome terror attack on Friday, Rabbi Yaakov Litman and his 18-year-old son, Netanel, were murdered in cold blood on the way to an event celebrating a family wedding.

The father, mother, two sons, and three young girls were driving south of Hebron to an event celebrating the oldest daughter’s upcoming wedding, who was not in the car at the time of the attack. The terrorists opened fire on the vehicle, killing the father.

After the car drove off the road and crashed, Netanel called Israeli emergency services but the terrorists approached the car and killed him. The younger son, aged 16, called emergency services and related that a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance approached the scene but then drove away. The terrorists are still at large.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the foreign ministry to lodge a complaint with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva. The Red Crescent operates under the auspices of the ICRC and, as such, is required to aid all who require assistance.

Jonathan Feldstein, director of Heart to Heart Israel, an organization which supports Magen David Adom, Israel’s Red Cross Society, expressed that Israel’s approach to the sanctity of all life would never ignore treating the wounded, regardless of them being friend or foe.

“It’s a jarring parallel that the Palestinian Red Crescent would avoid treating Israeli terrorist victims and that Israel’s Red Cross society, which Heart to Heart Israel supports, treats the victims and the terrorists equally because we sanctify all life,” Feldstein told Breaking Israel News.

“This attack is especially personal as Netanel Litman was a volunteer in Israels national ambulance service where he no doubt treated Jews and Arabs. We mourn his and his fathers death and pray that through continued support for Heart to Heart Israel we will be able to save more lives.”

One month ago, Israeli Health Minister Yaakov Litzman ordered an investigation into claims that Arab staff at a medical clinic in the Old City of Jerusalem did not aid Jewish terror victims. The attack occurred adjacent to the clinic while it was open and medical personnel were present inside in the clinic. Arab residents reportedly laughed and spat at a victim as she stumbled around with a knife embedded in her back.

Netanyahu asked Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to bring legal sanctions against those guilty and to close Arab stores where the attack took place.

In a separate terror incident, four Israelis were injured in a terror attack north of Jerusalem on Saturday night after an Arab rammed his car into a vehicle carrying the Israelis between Psagot and Kochav Yaakov in Samaria.

Two of the Israelis were moderately injured and the other two lightly wounded. The attacker was critically wounded and later died. Israeli police reported that the terrorist had been on his way to perpetrate a knife attack in Psagot but fled after being spotted by the security guard.
