The Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes in the Qalamoun region along the Syrian-Lebanese border on Sunday night, Arab media reported.

According to Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, the airstrikes targeted rocket launchers belonging to Hezbollah and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Sunday night’s airstrike is the third alleged Israeli airstrike on Syria in the last two days.

Sunday night’s incursion came only hours after a separate IAF airstrike targeted a killed a group of terrorists that were planting explosives along the northern border with Israel.

The IDF confirmed a “group of armed terrorists” were killed in the strikes after they were spotted crossing into Israeli territory at approximately 9:30 pm.

IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said the cell was made up of four people who were “identified while clearly laying a mine and were shot by an Israeli Air Force aircraft.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the vigilance of Israeli forces stationed along the northern border. “Every attempt to injure our soldiers and our citizens will be met with a decisive response like the IDF action this evening, which thwarted an attempted terror attack.”

“I praise the vigilance of the IDF troops that brought about this swift and precise action,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warned Hezbollah against threatening and testing Israel.

Speaking at military headquarters in Tel Aviv, the defense minister stated: “We know how to reach [Hezbollah] and those who direct it, at any time and in any place. We will not allow Hezbollah to establish a terror infrastructure on our borders with Syria, and we have the ability to reach anyone who threatens Israeli citizens along our borders or even far from them.”

On Saturday, Arab media reported several explosions attributed to Israeli airstrikes that targeted weapons and missile depots belonging to Hezbollah and the Syrian army. The strikes occurred in the Qalamoun region.

According to Al-Jazeera, Syrian targets included the 155th and 65th divisions of the Syrian army, responsible for “strategic weapons,” such as Scud missiles.
