The resignation of Idit Silman from Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s coalition in effect forced its collapse. The coalition and opposition in the Knesset are now a dead even 60-60 split.
The development may have come as a shock to many in Jerusalem, but for Talmudic scholars, it appears to be the realization of a prophecy in the ancient text.
A video featuring a student of Rabbi Meir Mazuz is making the rounds on Whatsapp in Israel, where this entire sequence of events takes place and indicates the Messiah’s arrival. In the Talmud, a little-known passage states that the Messiah will not come until Israel is ruled by an evil government for nine months, like a woman’s gestation period before the ‘birth’ of the Messiah.
‘The son of David [the Moshiach or Messiah] won’t come until the kingdom [the evil or oppressive kingdom] will propagate itself on Israel [it will oppress Israel, be numerous] for nine months“ (Tractate Sanhedrin 98(b)(2)
By Heavenly design, Bennett’s government has been ruling for exactly nine months. The student points out that Bennett’s coalition assumed power daled Tammuz (June 14, 2021) and was dispersed on daled Nissan (April 6, 2022) – exactly 9 months.
The case for divine intervention is compounded by the fact that Silman’s reason for bringing down the government was because Bennett’s coalition wanted to pass a law that violates Passover – bringing leavened bread into hospitals during the holiday.
