Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced a “significant” assistance package for Beersheva and other southern Israeli communities.

“We will invest nearly NIS 500 million [$160.8 million] towards education, jobs, reducing wage gaps, planning a public hospital, improving technology as well as innovation, developing transportation and establishing quick transportation from the country’s center to the south, infrastructures—and the list is still long,” Bennett said during his weekly cabinet meeting.

“We have talked about investing in the Negev (southern desert), and now it’s happening on the ground. Like (Israel’s first Prime Minister who lived in the Negev) Ben-Gurion said, ‘The nation of Israel will be tested in the Negev.’”

Although this is a welcome move for the residents of southern Israel, it’s just not enough to provide the food security that these poor Israelis need.

That’s why organizations like Colel Chabad are stepping up.

Colel Chabad provides basic staples for Israeli families suffering from food insecurity. They distribute gift cards for hungry Israelis to redeem at local supermarkets. They also deliver food baskets to those who need them throughout the Jewish state.

But as important as this holy mission is, they can’t do it alone.

That’s because they survive off of private donations from friends of Israel.

Can you help?

If so, please consider donating to Colel Chabad.

Help them fight hunger in Israel today.
