The UN’s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA said on Friday that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium currently exceeds over ten times the limit written in the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, according to the AFP.
The limit was set to 300 kgs of enriched uranium in a particular compound form. This is equivalent of 202.8 kg of uranium.
Iran’s stockpile currently stands at more than 2,105 kg, according to the report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.
Meanwhile, the IAEA added that Iran had granted access to its inspectors to one of two sites where undeclared nuclear activity could’ve taken place nearly 20 years ago.
“Iran provided Agency inspectors access to the location to take environmental samples,” the report said. It added that “The samples will be analyzed by laboratories that are part of the Agency’s network.”
Inspection at the second site will happen “later in September 2020 on a date already agreed with Iran,” the report also said.
Meanwhile, in a recent tweet on Saturday, Iran’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei posted a cryptic video telling the United Arab Emirates that their betrayal of the Islamic world “won’t last long.”
The #UAE betrayed the world of Islam, the Arab nations, the region’s countries, and #Palestine. Of course, this betrayal won’t last long.
