Jews across the globe have just celebrated Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement. In Israel, everything comes to a halt for the 25 hours of the fast. No cars on the road, no children going to school, nobody doing any business. Even in Tel Aviv, seen as Israel’s secular capital, the metropolis sleeps for a day.
