Tel Aviv’s city hall was lit up in the colors of the Egyptian flag Saturday night, as an act of solidarity in the wake of Friday’s terror attack on a Sufi mosque in the Sinai Peninsula, which left 305 dead and hundreds more wounded.

The attack, perpetrated by ISIS, was the deadliest in Egyptian history.

Earlier Saturday night,  Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement condemning the attack and wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.

“The State of Israel strongly condemns the terrible terror attack which was carried out in the al-Rawda mosque by al-Arish, and sends its condolences in the name of the people of Israel to President [Abdel Fattah] El-Sisi, to the Egyptian people, and to the families of the victims. The State of Israel wishes a fast recovery to all those who were wounded.

“Terror will be defeated quicker if all countries act against it together.”

“My condolences to the families of the dozens of people murdered in the terror attack on a mosque in the Sinai,” Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz tweeted in response to the attack. “Israel stands shoulder to shoulder with Egypt and countries in the region and the international arena in the war against radical Islamic terror.”

Education Minister Naftali Bennett said that Friday’s “murderous terror attack is testimony to the fact that a new world order is being created around us, in which the distinction is between terror supporters like Iran and [ISIS], and supporters of humanity.”

On November 21st, Israel marked 40 years since Egyptian president Anwar Sadat’s historical visit to Israel, and the subsequent signing of a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. At a special session commemorating the event, Prime Minister Netanyahu sent his congratulations to President el-Sisi and called the peace between the two nations “strong, strategical and in both nations best interests,” adding later in his speech that “the biggest threat in the region is the fundamental and violent Islamic terrorism, which is lead by Iran on the one hand, and ISIS on the other.”
