Across Eastern Europe, more than a million Jews were killed by Nazi paramilitary death squads called “Einsatzgruppen,” and their bodies were thrown into mass graves. Many of these grave sites remained unmentioned and untouched for decades, and they probably would have continued to go unnoticed, if not for the efforts of a French priest, Father Patrick Desbois, who has devoted his life to researching the Holocaust and fighting anti-Semitism. On the Fast of Esther, Father Desbois joins VOI’s Yishai Fleisher to convey a message of Jewish strength.
