Arab Seeking Jewish Conversion Imprisoned by Siblings

Israeli police reported on Sunday that a 19-year-old Arab who had expressed his desire to convert to Judaism and enlist in the IDF was imprisoned by his brothers for three weeks in a room in his home.

Police said that on Thursday a resident of the city of Tayibe in central Israel, 7 miles east of Kfar Saba, reported that a friend of hers had been imprisoned for a long time in his home after his family discovered his desire to convert and enlist in the IDF.

Policemen who arrived at the house rescued the young man and on Saturday his 21-year-old brother, who is suspected of illegal incarceration, was arrested and brought before a judge Sunday.

The list of celebrity Muslims who converted to Judaism includes Nissim Baruch Black (born Damian Jamohl Black), an American rapper and music producer, raised Muslim but converted to Christianity before converting to Judaism; and Avraham Sinai, Lebanese member of Hezbollah who had an Orthodox conversion and lives as a Haredi Jew in Tsfat.
