‘Apartheid Week’ Abruptly Cancelled After Pro-Israel Showing Outshines BDS

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement activists were almost completely absent on campus during the final day of events for this year’s “Israeli Apartheid Week” (IAW)—an annual global anti-Israel showcase—at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, The Algemeiner reported.

Gilad Kabilo, the head of an Israeli visiting delegation to Wits during IAW, attributed the dwindling anti-Israel presence to “the strong response of Jews and pro-Israel allies standing against their message of hate.”

Prior to abandoning the Wits campus, BDS activists became so irate in response pro-Israel activists’ non-violent demonstrations that they resorted to waving flags of the Hezbollah and Hamas terror groups as well as performing a Nazi salute while goose-stepping towards Jewish students, according to The Algemeiner.

Kabilo, whose visiting delegation was sponsored by the pro-Israel education organization StandWithUs, reported that BDS activists experienced “failure after failure” and were thrown “off balance” by the peaceful pro-Israel demonstrations.

The BDS presence at the South African university was so weak by the end of IAW that an “end-of-event concert” was abruptly canceled.
