Over 100 Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives have signed a letter urging President-elect Donald Trump to make good on his promise to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem immediately after entering office.

“Moving the embassy will strengthen the unique alliance between Israel and the United States and send a clear message to the world that we support Israel in recognizing Jerusalem as its eternal capital,” reads the letter.

It calls for “swift action” from Trump, advising him to move the embassy “as soon as you take office.”

The letter, initiated by Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-R), has accrued over 100 signatures in the House GOP caucus. In addition to calling for the moving of the embassy from its current location in Tel Aviv, an action Trump officials have called a “top priority” for the administration, the letter also slams the recent United Nations Security Council resolution condemning Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

Moving the embassy and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, which America has never done, is “all the more urgent in light of the anti-Israel Resolution 2334, adopted by the United Nations Security Council on December 23, 2016,” the letter charged.

“The resolution invites renewed diplomatic hostility and economic warfare against Israel, and we must act urgently to mitigate its consequences and to reaffirm our steadfast commitment to Israel.”

According to reports, Trump’s team is already scouting possible locations in Jerusalem for the  new embassy.
