Israeli Intelligence Leads Putin to Freeze Missile Sales to Iran

After Israel gave Russian President Vladimir Putin intelligence proving that weapons Russia sold to Iran were ending up in the hands of terrorists, Putin froze the transfer of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Tehran, reported Arab news sources on Saturday.

Israeli officials provided evidence that Iran had violated its agreement not to provide Hezbollah with Russian-made arms, said the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida. The Israeli intel gave proof of a transfer of SA-22 air defense missiles from Iran to the Lebanon-based terror organization, which represents a serious threat to Israel.

The intelligence was corroborated by Russian pilots flying fighter jets over Lebanon and Syria. The pilots reported that they were able to detect SA-22 systems in Hezbollah-controlled territory, using anti-missile radar.

After receiving the intelligence, Putin immediately halted the transfer of S-300 missiles to Iran, proving true the Biblical precept that God nullifies the plots of the nations against Israel.

The missile deal between Moscow and Tehran has been in talks for over six years, with Russia backing out of a 2010 contract to sell Iran the advanced rocket system after pressure from the West and UN sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program. However, the deal was renewed last year following the interim nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers.

A Hezbollah source reported in January that Russia was directly transferring weapons to the terrorist group with no restrictions on their use, intimating that they could be used against Israel.

However, Russia denied the claim. During a meeting between Israeli and Russian officials in February, Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko vowed that Russia would prevent the transfer of weapons “to an organization that brings about destruction and death”.
