On Monday morning, the IDF began demolition of the homes of two terrorists from East Jerusalem who carried out terror attacks against Israelis on October 13, one of the deadliest days of the current terror wave in Israel.

The two terrorists perpetrated two separate attacks on that day which left four dead. East Jerusalem resident Bahaa Allyan, along with Bilal Ranem, killed two, mortally wounded one, and injured over a dozen people in a coordinated shooting and stabbing attack on the 78 bus in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood.

At the same time across town, Alaa Abu Jamal rammed his car into a group of people standing at a bus stop in the Makor Baruch neighborhood, then emerged from the vehicle and attacked the survivors with a meat cleaver. He killed one Jewish man.

Both Allyan and Jamal were shot and killed by security forces.

Destruction of terrorists’ homes is one of the few punitive actions that Israel can take against a dead terrorist. Demolition orders for the homes of Allyan and Jamal were approved by the High Court of Justice on December 23.

IDF troops entered Jabel Mukaber, the East Jerusalem neighborhood where both terrorists lived, on Monday morning. The home of Allyan was set to be demolished on Monday, and the home of Jamal was sealed off with concrete.

The army and police set up road blocks at some entrances to the neighborhood before beginning destruction of the homes.
