At least one Israeli woman was injured on Sunday afternoon in what appears to be a sniping attack near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The sniper fire came from the rooftop of a building in the nearby Palestinian neighborhood of Abu Sneina. Though earlier reports stated that the terrorist had been neutralized, the IDF confirmed that he remains at large.
Magen David Adom reports that the victim is a 19-year-old female in moderate condition. She was shot in the pelvis and treated by a military medical unit, and was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. According to reports, the victim was an IDF officer.
Magen David Adom medic Hanoch Zelinger, who treated the victim, said, “When we arrived we saw a young woman of around 19 years old, fully conscious and already treated by IDF medical forces who were close to the attack scene. She had a deep wound in her lower body. We put her on an ambulance and treated her wounds while transporting her to hospital.”
A massive search is underway for the attacker as IDF forces prepare to enter the Arab neighborhood in pursuit.
