The Defense Minister of the State of Israel should project an image of strength that sends Israel’s enemies scrambling for cover. Therefore, it is extremely disturbing to see Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s repeated acts of weakness opposite the Islamic terrorist organizations that have been attacking Israeli citizens daily for the past three months.
The latest in a series of limp-knee maneuvers by Ya’alon is yesterday’s handover to the Palestinian Authority (PA) of the bodies of eight terrorists who carried out recent terror attacks in which they were subsequently neutralized by Israel’s security forces.
On October 14, the Israeli Cabinet voted to no longer release any dead terrorist bodies, but Ya’alon is blatantly subverting that decision, claiming that his view is more consistent with the worldview that there is no purpose in holding these bodies and that if held, it could provoke unrest in the Palestinian street.
As if there is no unrest now? As if Palestinian “unrest” is a mere part of a spontaneous “year of rage” not directed and financed from the top? Such a ridiculous presumption by Ya’alon – that Israeli actions cause Jihadist terrorism – shows an appalling ignorance unbefitting of Israel’s top security official. Ya’alon’s limp-wrist policy of giving in to terrorists is in direct defiance of the will of the Israeli people and of common sense. The PA, as always, will happily pocket this latest Israeli concession, as it continues to hold the bodies of Israeli soldiers seized in the last Gaza conflict. The Muslims know weakness when they see it, and they have found that weak link in the more appropriately titled, “Weakness Minister” Moshe Ya’alon, who sadly, has been entrusted with our national defense and is failing miserably in that task. And the terror war on Israel’s citizens continues at a pace of their choosing.
Meanwhile, the PA’s Chief Murderer Mahmoud Abbas and his henchmen are having a good laugh at our expense in the Mukata, the PA’s terror headquarters in Ramallah. What will Ya’alon give them next?
