A French immigrant Border Policewoman, whose name was not disclosed but goes by the title ‘Corporal A’, prevented an attempted stabbing attack on Friday by a terrorist on a motorcycle. The attack took place at the Tapuach junction, an intersection in Samaria that has been hard-hit by terror attacks in the recent weeks.
During the attack, Corporal A managed to neutralize two terrorists who attempted to stab a fellow border policeman.
When later visited by the head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, Corporal A said, “I did my part. This is what I came to Israel for – to protect the country.”
The attack saw the first use of a motorcycle during the current wave of terror attacks sweeping across the country. The two terrorists arrived around 12PM, when Corporal A recognized them as having the means and the intent to commit an act of terror. Responding quickly, she opened fire in time to shoot both terrorists before they could stab their intended victim, her fellow officer.
One of the terrorists died on the spot; the other was critically wounded.
During a reenactment of the incident in front of Border Police Deputy Commissioner Uzi Levi, Corporal A said, “I understood that if I hesitated for a second, the fighter beside me won’t be alive anymore.” Corporal A reassured the Deputy Commissioner that the forces in the field are ready for these types of attacks, saying, “We are ready and trained specifically for these events.” The other officer was lightly wounded and treated on the scene.
Corporal A received a commendation from Levi, who told her, “You acted calmly, just as you’re expected to. The alertness and preparedness shown during attacks have been proven to save lives, and are the main reason these incidents come to an end in a short time and without casualties.”
