Bayit Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett on Monday called for erecting a “wall of deterrence,” a term that would includes a string of measures to help stop terrorism, NRG reported Monday. “Defensive deterrence means that the Arabs of Judea and Samaria will realize that the age of a Palestinian state is over,” Bennett said at the start of the Bayit Yehudi Knesset faction meeting. “A wall of deterrence is the only way to deal with terrorism,” Bennett added, saying, “Over a hundred years of Zionism nothing was easy.”

Bennett explained: “In order to deal with terrorism there is only one effective wall — a wall of deterrence rather than a concrete wall. It means that a terrorist who goes out on an attack will know that the house he and his family live in would be destroyed immediately afterwards. It means that an armed terrorist who is trying to harm civilians should be shot to be killed.” Referring to a few cases in which a terrorist who had been shot in his lower body managed to get up and inflict more harm, Bennett said: “It means a terrorist can’t get up and again stab Jews, like the terrorist who worked for [phone company] Bezeq did. It means that the incitement will be stopped and Abbas would be treated like a man who encourages terrorism. He is no longer a partner. Terrorism does not deserve a state.”

Shortly before Bennett’s comments, Israel Beitenu party chairman Avigdor Lieberman also addressed the security situation, and criticized the policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “The prime minister receives in his office with great pomp the Joint Arab List, including [MKs] Zahalka, Ayman Odeh, gives them legitimacy and awards them a $225 million check, so this has practical implications and applications,” Liberman said at his Knesset faction’s meeting Monday. He was referring to Netanyahu’s meeting with the anti-Zionist Arab MKs in August, in which it was agreed to promote a multi-year plan to strengthen the Israeli Arab sector.

Lieberman argued in favor of outlawing the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, which has been responsible for the incitement the Arab public. “I do not understand how, after all the talk, there is still no decision to outlaw the Islamic movement? If [the leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel] Raed Salah continues to move around the country and incite, it causes the results we are seeing on the ground”.

He also referred to the fact that some of the terrorists who carried out attacks in recent weeks, have entered Israel through the process of reuniting families. “The Afula terrorist was from Umm al-Fahm, and that, too, was the result of the family unification process. The terrorist attack yesterday was also the result of family reunification. I call on the Interior Minister to stop this practice. Those who want to unite should do it in Gaza.”
