An Israeli man has become a hero overnight in Israel after reportedly bringing down a terrorist with a pair of nunchucks.
On Monday, a Palestinian terrorist boarded a Jerusalem bus and attempted to steal the gun of an IDF soldier, an Israel Police spokeswoman said. After failing to grab the gun, the terrorist first tried to strangle the soldier and then took out a knife and stabbed him.
“I jumped onto the bus and helped them struggle with the terrorist,” said Yair Ben Shabat. “I took nunchucks out and hit him where I had to for them to be able to pry loose the weapon he held,” he was quoted by Ynet as saying.

A nearby police officer quickly boarded the bus and attempted to tackle the terrorist. During the struggle, the terrorist grabbed the gun of the police officer. A second officer responding to the attack saw the terrorist with the pistol and shot him.
The bus attack was the fourth Jerusalem terror attack on Monday in a span of 12 hours. Earlier in the day, two Palestinian teenagers stabbed two Israeli teenagers in the Pisgat Zeev neighborhood. One of the Palestinian teenagers was shot dead by security forces and the second was seriously injured.
Approximately one hour before, an 18-year-old Palestinian woman stabbed a Border Police officer outside national police headquarters near Ammunition Hill. Earlier in the morning, 17-year-old East Jerusalem resident Mustafa Khatieb attempted to stab a police officer near the Old City of Jerusalem.
