Sirens sounded in the south of Israel as the Iron Dome anti-missile system shot down a fired from Gaza into Israel, in the second rocket attack this week.
Earlier in the week, the IDF deployed more Iron Dome systems in the region due to mounting violence.
This follows two days of violent clashes in which hundreds of Gazans rushed the fence marking the border with Israel, throwing stones and burning tires.
IDF troops fired into the crowd, killing seven Palestinians on Friday and two on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, dozens of Gazans crossed the border fence into Israel. They were all captured and returned to Gaza without injuries reported.
