American presidential candidate, Dr. BenCarson, has been viciously attacked recently for his affirmative answer to an interviewer, in which he was asked if he would find it difficult to support a Muslim candidate for president. This provocative question was asked of Carsonjust a day after fellow candidate Donald Trump had failed to criticize a questioning audience member at a town hall gathering, who specifically stated that President Obama is a Muslim.

Focusing just on the Carson statement, was it really a racist or bigoted remark, as some of his critics allege? Can a person’s religious beliefs impinge a candidate’s worthiness?BIN-OpEd-Experts-300x250(1)

Later clarifying his statement, Carson emphasized that Islamic Sharia law is contrary to the American Constitution. Nonetheless, the cabal of Islamic ideologues and their usual leftist allies have been unceasing in their verbal lynch of the good doctor, who hasn’t got a racist bone in his body.

Fact: Sharia law is central in Islam.

Fact: Jihad, or holy war against non-Muslims, is central in Islam.

Let’s examine just a few inconvenient facts about Sharia law:

1.Sharia permits wife-beating.

2.Sharia doesn’t allow the building or renovation of any place of worship other than a mosque.

3. Sharia calls for cutting off the hands of shoplifters.

4. Sharia calls for the murder of a Muslim who changes his religion.

5. Sharia calls for the murder of those who publicly criticize Muhammad (the founder of Islam) and the Koran (the “Bible” of Islam).

Those are just a few highlights of the system of law that is dominant in leading Muslim countries, like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Is that really the kind of law that the free world wants to import?

Ben Carson lives in a country that believes in free speech. There is no question that he should be permitted to voice his apprehension on this issue. The political rise of American Muslims, who in most cases don’t believe in the basic Judeo-Christian tenets on which the United States was founded, would indeed be a serious danger to the freedoms thatAmericans often take for granted. Carson was correct in pointing that out.
