A Palestinian woman was shot and injured after her attempt to stab an IDF soldier in Hebron Tuesday morning, the army confirmed.

The soldier was unharmed while the female terrorist was shot in the leg. Initial reports suggest she was in critical condition.

“A Palestinian attempted to stab an IDF soldier at a military position in Hebron,” the IDF said in a statement. “IDF forces responded, fired towards the perpetrator and identified a hit.”

A video said to be shot at the scene of the attack shows a woman, clad in black, lying on the ground after being shot. The Israeli filming the video issue a warning in Hebrew to others not to approach the woman in fear she might have explosives.

In an earlier incident just after midnight, security forces discovered the body of a terrorist south of Hebron, near Beit Haggai. An initial military investigation suggests that the terrorist was attempting to bomb a passing IDF vehicle.

According to the report, security forces were on high alert after local residents spotted an unofficial roadblock on the highway. As forces were searching the area, they heard an explosion and later found the body of the terrorist.

He is believed to have been killed while attempting to deploy the bomb.

The attempted attacks come as Israel experiences a sharp spike in terror related violence, including increased rock throwing attacks and fire-bombings across Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem.
