Hamas Calls for Revenge Suicide Attacks on IDF, “Settlers”

Hamas has called for suicide attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli “settlers” following an arson attack in the Palestinian village of Duma Friday that killed an 18-month-old toddler.

The IDF believes that the firebombing attack was perpetrated by Jewish extremists from nearby areas in Judea and Samaria based on the presence of Hebrew graffiti at the site of the attack.

Israeli and international officials were quick to condemn the attack, which they branded as “Jewish terror.”

Senior Hamas leader Hamad Al-Rakav was quoted by Arutz Sheva as saying that Palestinians living in “the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem” must attack Israel and Palestinian Authority forces, who were dubbed “traitors and collaborators.”

According to the Hamas official, Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, will double its terror activities across Judea and Samaria in “revenge” for the arson attack.

“The Zionists’ burning of the helpless infant that didn’t commit any crime is proof that they are thirsty to spill our blood and to commit crimes against our people,” Al-Rakay said.

Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the firebombing attack and called for a swift response to apprehend those behind the incident.

Comparing Israel’s swift response to condemn the attack to the delayed responses of Palestinian Authority officials to terror attacks on Israelis, Netanyahu stated: “We deplore and condemn these murders. We will pursue them to the end. They name public squares after the murderers of children. This distinction cannot be blurred or covered up.”

“It is important to say this even as we utter our condemnations and unite against the criminals among our people,” he added.

The prime minister made clear that there would be a “zero tolerance” policy for any similar violent crimes in Israel. He vowed to punish the perpetrators to the full extent of the law.
