75-year-old American action star Chuck Norris praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a scathing column critiquing US President Barack Obama’s response to Netanyahu’s appearance at Congress earlier this month. The actor, whose birthday was celebrated last week, is a long-time supporter of Netanyahu and Israel.
In a column for WorldNetDaily, a site for which Norris is a regular contributor, he wrote last week, “It is nothing short of despicable that a long-term ally to the U.S. like Israel and its prime minister, Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu, received a cold shoulder from U.S. President Barack Obama when he came to our country and delivered his speech to Congress a week ago. The fact that he would rather give nuclear power to Iran than a handshake to Israel is proof that he is as clueless to Middle Eastern life and turmoil as a mouse is to the cheese in a mousetrap.”
Norris cited the Christian Science Monitor in noting that Netanyahu’s stance on Iran is echoed by the Arab states in the region. He derided Obama for thinking “he can negotiate his way to ISIS friendship. It’s absolutely ludicrous. By regarding Iran as a ‘useful ally’ against the Islamic State, he’s only giving the greatest Islamic puppeteer in the region stronger strings to manipulate and empower extremists.”
Norris also came down hard on Obama for the way he handled Netanyahu’s speech to Congress early this month. “Ignoring and rebuking your greatest ally in the Middle East during negotiations with the region’s historical evil empire isn’t foundational diplomacy; it’s folly that is aiding and abetting our foes and increasing Middle East instability.”
In true Chuck Norris fashion, he quipped, “And now, Obama wants to help an anti-Israeli, jihad-proliferating Islamic stronghold like Iran to continue its uranium enrichment and produce more nuclear power in hope it might help with our war against [ISIS]? There’s a greater chance a winter nor’easter will hit the gates of Hades!”
He finished by quoting Psalms 122, calling on Americans and Israelis alike to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem”.
Norris has had a storied acting career and Chuck Norris “Facts” abound on the internet. Today, he is a vocal right-wing activist in America. He has developed his own school of martial arts and endorses a number of healthcare products. In the previous Israeli election, he produced a video endorsing Benjamin Netanyahu for Prime Minister, calling him “the tough guy in the neighborhood.”
