One of the world’s most sophisticated rockets, developed in Israel, is set to debut next week. The Extended Range Artillery rocket, also known as EXTRA, has one of the longest ranges in the world.

The new rocket will be presented for the first time on Tuesday in a security conference taking place in Israel Ynet reported.

EXTRA has a maximum range of 150 km and a startling accuracy of up to ten meters. The new rocket can improve the IDF’s capabilities of targeting concealed sites in Lebanon.

Developed by Israeli Military Industries, many foreign armies have already placed orders for the new rocket. However, the report noted that the IDF has yet to place an order.

EXTRA was test fired for the first time several months ago in Israel’s southern desert region. In a video showing the test, the rocket was launched from the back of a truck and accurately struck a target several dozen kilometers away. The rockets are guided by a specially designed GPS system.

EXTRA shells measure 300 mm in diameters and are less than four meters long. The rocket holds a specially designed 120 kg warhead that is capable of destroying underground targets. Should Israel obtain EXTRA, the IDF would have the ability to strike as far as southern Beirut.
