The Liberty Counsel hosted the Thirteenth Annual Israel Solidarity Event on Thursday, May 2, at the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C.. Ambassador H.E. Ron Dermer and Reverend Franklin Graham where the guests of honor at the event.

The annual gathering of some of the staunchest Evangelical Christian leaders in support of Israel confirms to the nation of Israel that they are not alone.

The Israel Solidarity Event celebrates Israel’s independence, when it became a sovereign nation in 1948, and encourages people to stand in solidarity with Israel to support its right to exist. The event was part of the National Day of Prayer, which is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked to turn to God in prayer and meditation.

The Liberty Council felt that hosting the Israel Solidarity Event on the National Day of Prayer and a few days before Israel’s Independence Day was most fitting.

Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel was quoted by the organization’s website as saying:“For the first time since Harry Truman recognized the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, America’s support of Israel is waning. There has never been a more important time for people to stand up for Israel!”  Staver gave this reason for the build up around the event.

Here are some highlights outlining why Christian support of Israel is real and everlasting.
