The granddaughter of Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh was transferred from the Gaza Stip to an Israeli hospital on Monday, according to the Jerusalem Post. She is the daughter of Haniyeh’s eldest son, Abdel Salam, who confirmed on his Facebook account that the one-year-old girl had been transferred to Israel.

The girl has reportedly been in serious condition after being diagnosed with an acute infection of the digestive tract. She was admitted on Sunday to Schneider Children’s Medical Center for Israel in Petah Tikva, and was later returned to a hospital in Gaza City.

Abdel Salam later posted another message saying his daughter was expected back in a Gaza hospital after undergoing medical check-ups in Israel. “Dear brothers, Amal has been transferred inside the Green Line,” the father wrote. “I pray to Allah for her recovery.”

This was not the first time a relative of Haniyah was treated in an Israeli hospital. According to YNetNews, Haniyeh’s brother-in-law was also treated in the Petah Tikva hospital one and a half years ago for a serious cardiac episode which could not be treated in the Gaza hospitals.

Palestinians published on Facebook a photo of the Hamas leader during a visit to his granddaughter in Al-Nasr Hospital in the Gaza Strip just before she was taken to Israel.
