Military life creates challenges in the lives of combat officers’ families, and the IDF’s Manpower Directorate has adopted the suggestion of two officials’ wives to offer workshops to support them. Revital Gantz, wife of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, and Ruth Golan, wife of GOC Northern Command Maj. Gen. Yair Golan, proposed the workshops, and, along with the wife of former Southern Command chief of staff Brig. Gen. Roi Elkabetz, ran the first successful set several weeks ago. The workshops address the special concerns of military family life and feature professional speakers from related fields. The goal is to offer support to the families of the officers, who in turn benefit from knowing their families are happy. Happy families mean happier, more effective officers, and so the army gains, as well.
