The holiness of Passover was shattered on Friday night as Hamas fired two rockets at Israel from Gaza. Ironically, the only damage was inside Gaza as one rocket landed next to a UNRWA school, injuring a Palestinian.

One of the rockets landed in an open field in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. The second rocket landed in the northeastern Gazan city of Beit Hanoun.

According to the IDF, the Rockets were not headed for Israeli population centers, so the Red Alert incoming rocket warning siren did not activate.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced Saturday night that the rocket attacks resulted in the IDF shutting down the Erez border crossing on Sunday.

According to a report by Channel 12 on Friday, Hamas, the terror organization that rules Gaza, deployed its forces in recent days in an effort to stop rocket attacks by more minor armed factions, as it does not have an interest in a direct conflict with Israel at this time.

The rocket shortfall last week that caused a Palestinian casualty is more common than most media would have the public realize. A report by the media watchdog site CAMERA last May and another by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center noted that most civilians killed in Operation Guardians of the Walls last year were killed by Hamas rockets. 

It should also be noted that the United Nations Relief and Works Association (UNRA) has a long history of being used by Hamas to store rockets and as part of their terrorism infrastructure.
