Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett asked to speak with US president Joe Biden but has not received a response for weeks reports Channel 13.

According to the report, the request came about two days following the renewal of the Iran nuclear talks in Vienna which began three weeks ago.

According to sources, the background for the refusal for the two sides to talk is due to the building in the Judean town of Atarot, even though Israeli journalist Barak Ravid reported that Bennett told Biden that there would be no new building in Atarot.

National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden Jake Sullivan will arrive in Israel on Wednesday and is expected to meet with Israeli President Isaac Herzog as well as Bennett. Sources have reported that following this meeting, discussions between the two heads of state will resume.

The Prime Minister’s Office responded to the reports saying: “There was no attempt made for an official discussion when a formal request is made – it will be answered positively.”
