The Knesset’s monetary committee issued a ruling on Sunday mandating that all employees of the Israeli parliament (Knesset) can only enter after demonstrating a green passport or a negative PCR test reports Ynet.

Additionally, the head of the Knesset’s monetary committee, attorney Sagit Afik, explained that the restriction does not apply to Knesset members. “This is due to the law of parliamentary immunity and freedom of movement granted to Knesset Members so they can fulfill their parliamentarian duties.”

Afik added that the goal of the selective green passport screening was “to prevent the spread in the workplace and to minimize the health risk for the sake of essential workers.”

The head of human resources will be responsible for demanding the green passes or negative PCR tests from the Knesset’s employees.

The Knesset chairman, Gil Segal said that wanted to “emphasize” that he is “aligning our policy with the rest of the nation’s public services. He added that Knesset Members are exempt from displaying the green passport but can if they choose to.

The monetary committee head, Alex Kushner concluded the hearing by saying: “I would like to praise the Knesset management and the Knesset employees. We are getting on the same page with the rest of the public services. This is very important for all of our health.”
