The mother of Abdelrahman al-Shaludi, the Hamas terrorist behind a recent terror attack in Jerusalem which killed two and injured seven, is being dubbed a “martyr” by his mother.

Shaludi was buried late Sunday evening in the Muslim cemetery outside the Old City of Jerusalem. His funeral was initially postponed due to expected rioting and violence by Palestinians in the area.

Police limited the number of those who would be allowed to attend the funeral, which began at the feet of the Temple Mount. Despite these steps, Palestinian’s from the Silwan neighborhood, the same neighborhood where Shaludi lived, clashed with police.

During the funeral, Shaludi’s mother expressed her support for her son’s actions and said she was proud of him. His death brought honor to the family because he became a “shahid” (martyr). She repeatedly added “praise to Allah” after talking about her son’s terror attack.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party did not condemn the terror attack carried out by Shaludi. Instead, the party pledged “loyalty” to the terrorist. PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat defended the murders.

A senior aid to Abbas praised the attacks, especially the death of three-month-old Chaya Zissel Braun. Shaludi was hailed a “hero.”

Initially, Shaludi’s mother maintained that her son was “killed in cold blood” after accidentally losing control of his car. However, on Thursday she told reporters, “I cannot say if it was on purpose, or just a simple car accident.”

“If it was really an attack, why didn’t he have explosives in his car – or even just Molotov cocktails?” she asked as she served women coffee and dates in her home.

Shaludi was previously arrested by Israel. He was released in December 2013 after serving a 14 month prison sentence for a stone-throwing attack. Shaludi was again arrested in February and held for 20 days.
