The daughter of Hamas’s top leader is confirmed to have been treated in an Israeli hospital, weeks after the conclusion of a 50-day war between Israel and the Gaza-based terror group.

Avi Shushan, a spokesman for Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital, told the Times of Israel that the daughter of Ismail Haniyeh was hospitalized for “a number of days” in October. A spokeswoman from the IDF corroborated the hospital stay.

Haniyeh’s daughter underwent emergency medical treatment after suffering from complications during a routine procedure, Reuters reported. The incident illustrates the continuing humanitarian coordination between Israel and Hamas after the conclusion of the war.

Haniyeh, who has 13 children, is the main leader of the Hamas terror group in Gaza. He is the deputy leader to Khaled Meshaal, Hamas’s main political leader who lives in exile.

During the war, Haniyeh spent seven weeks hiding. His home, located in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, was destroyed during an Israeli air strike.

Since the end of the war in late August, dozens of Palestinian patients have been transferred to Israeli hospitals from Gaza.

Usually, when requested by a Palestinian doctor, a patient is allowed to cross the border into Israel for urgent treatment where resources and technology are much more advanced and easily accessible.

According to source close to the Haniyeh family who spoke to Reuters, Haniyeh may not have been personally involved in his daughter’s medical transfer.

This is not the first time a member of the Haniyeh family has been treated in Israel. In the last year, both Haniyeh’s mother-in-law and his baby granddaughter were treated in Israeli hospitals.

On June 3, the IDF confirmed that Haniyeh’s 68-year-old mother-in-law was allowed to enter into Israel to receive cancer treatment at a hospital in Jerusalem.

Last November, his one-year-old granddaughter was evacuated to an Israeli hospital due to complications from an unknown medical condition. Deemed incurable, the girl was sent back to her family in Gaza and later died of her condition.

Haniyeh has repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction and encourages armed resistance against the Jewish State.
