The Israeli Air Force conducted a series of coordinated airstrikes over the Gaza Strip late Wednesday night, early Thursday morning, hitting numerous Hamas positions.

In a statement released by the IDF, an “IAF aircraft targeted a terror activity site, a terror infrastructure site and a concealed rocket launcher in the northern Gaza Strip and two terror activity sites in the central Gaza Strip.”

The IDF confirmed direct hits on strategic Hamas positions. The airstrikes came in response to rocket attacks by terrorists in the Strip.

“The IDF will not tolerate attempts to harm Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel,” an IDF statement stressed.

During one attack on Wednesday, a rocket struck a home in a kibbutz in the Sha’ar HaNegev region, located in close proximity to Gaza. The rocket caused damage to the home but no injuries were reported. A second rocket exploded in an open area in the same area.

Palestinian medical responders reported that three people were injured in the strikes.

The strikes come at a time of increased tension between Israel and the Palestinians. Last Thursday, three Israeli teens on their way home from school in Judea were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and have been missing since.

The IDF has launched a massive manhunt in Palestinian cities in Judea and Samaria as well as cracked down on Hamas.

On Monday, the IAF carried out strikes against four “terror activity” sites in the Gaza Strip after terrorists launched rockets towards Israel earlier in the day.

The IDF reported direct hits on “a weapon manufacturing facility in the northern Gaza Strip and two weapon storage facilities in the central and southern Gaza Strip.”
