And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. [Jer 33:7]

“President Trump has just made history…he did it again.”

The following editorial is the launch of a series of articles devoted to a very important subject – that of Jewish Sovereignty. Return O’ Israel, a non-profit organization partnering with Jews in Israel, would like to thank Rabbi Tuly Weisz for the opportunity, via Breaking Israel News, to address this complex and challenging subject in an ongoing manner.

When we met to discuss the details and format for future sovereignty articles, little did we realize how incredibly timely it would be. That in a few weeks President Trump would shock the world with his announcement (Thursday, March 19th) of American support for Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

President Trump’s actions have given this subject the international credibility and importance that has been ignored and neglected far too long. A century has passed since the Balfour Declaration guaranteeing Jewish restoration to their land. Seventy years has passed since the founding of the Nation of Israel. The time has now come to address the issue and reality of full Jewish Sovereignty.

The bible is clear that God can never forget or fail in His covenants. Over 2,500 years ago the Prophet Isaiah rhetorically asked; “shall a nation be born at once?” The resounding affirmation he gave was; “…for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” [Isa 66:8] This prophecy was fulfilled in one of the greatest miracles of the modern world -when Israel was declared a nation again in 1948.

But what is a Christian’s response to this seemingly complex subject? That and a host of other issues will be addressed in upcoming articles posted in this special Sovereignty section of BIN. Maybe you are a Christian reader who has never even considered Jewish Sovereignty in Israel – let alone what it means for you? We believe that as you read the information and study the scriptures, you will discover and experience a deep and profound spiritual renewal. There are numerous examples in scripture, not to mention stunning historical events that highlight and prove God is alive and fulfilling His Word. We as Christians have an integral role to fill as Isaiah prophesied of our time when he said;

“Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.[Isa 49:22; KJV]

For centuries “Christians” have competed with, persecuted and participated in inquisitions and crusades against God’s people – the Jews. That was never to be our role. Christians are to express the virtues of God – humility, repentance, forgiveness and ultimately – to seek for and aid in restoration. These are the very attributes that God Himself displayed in the restoration of Israel.

“But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, ” I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [34] “And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” [Jer 31:33-34] [NASB]
